PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds quietly released a Deathmatch mode, though you’ll only find it in the custom game mode selections.
The mode, titled “War,” is currently playable for PUBG players. What’s more, it seems that players are allowed to tool around with the game’s custom rules setting by selecting the starting area and player loadouts for all the players. Videos have started surfacing of custom War games with players loading out with UMPs or sniper rifles. Check out a video below.
Unlike the standard PUBG game mode where players are eliminated after being killed, War lets players who are shot respawn after a certain amount of time has passed. Always in the same designated circle, which is smaller than the starting zone of a regular PUBG match.
Custom games can only be created and hosted by select streamers, community members, and developers, but custom games can be set to Public so anyone can join.
PUBG Corp. recently announced Event Mode which delivers special, limited time games with custom rulesets. This is similar to some of the games that can be created in custom mode such as SMG-only games, or 5-player teams. Alongside War there’s a zombie mode where human players must fight off unarmed, player-controlled zombies.
As for event games, the next limited-time game will be a mode called Tequila Sunrise, which goes live later tonight April 5 at 7 pm PT/10 pm ET. The mode features only shotguns and melee weapons for four-player squads on Miramar.
PUBG recently wrapped up testing for its 4×4 island map Codename: Savage. It’s a smaller map designed for faster gameplay. For more on PUBG check out our news for all the latest.
